The Messiah was a Suffering Lamb of God

Prophecy: The Messiah was a Suffering Lamb of God

As it was written in the Tanakh (NIV & TLV),

Isaiah 53:7-8 7 He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. 8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away. Yet who of his generation protested? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was punished.”
Suffering Lamb

He was innocent, and he had done no wrong.

In the Tanakh, rejecting the prophets sent by God was the same as rejecting God Himself. Likewise, piercing the Jewish Messiah is piercing God Himself because our God revealed Himself in the flesh through the Jewish Messiah.

How did Messiah Jesus Fulfill this Prophecy?

Jesus was the Lamb of God

The sheep for the sacrifice mentioned in the Tanakh were prepared by man, and Jesus was the Lamb of God prepared by God Himself. He offered His body as a ransom for all men’s sins, opening the way for mankind to come to God so that whoever believes in Jesus will have eternal life with God.

As it was written in the New Covenant (NIV & TLV),

John 1:29 “The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

Acts 8:32 “This is the passage of Scripture the eunuch was reading: “He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth.”
